Barney turned professional in
1979 and spent the first few years training under Ian Connelly (who
was Nick Faldos' first coach). Having played in various local
PGA competitions, he branched out into Regional, National and a few
European Tour Events.
Highlights included winning the Herts. PGA, Herts Assistants, South
of England Under 25s, Ken Brown Order of Merit and Variety Club Pro
Medal. Barney finished full time playing in 1986 and became
Head Professional at Ramsey Golf Club. Subsequently moving to
Harpenden Common, Metro Golf Club and since 2000 has been at Mid
Herts. GC of Radio 2 Fame!!.
